Wildcats do Midnight Madness Wright

When it comes to Midnight Madness, Villanova head coach Jay Wright has always been one step ahead.

For years Wright held off an extra weekend, letting other schools battle it out to get recruits on campus for the opening of practice and their respective Midnight Madness celebrations. Wright would then hold his event a week later when there was far less competition to get recruits on campus and his own team could get a boost of fan support after a tough first week of practice.

This year, with more and more schools following his example and delaying their celebrations by a week, Wright again proved to be ahead of the curve. Villanova Hoops Mania took place this past Friday night, two weeks into the practice season, in correlation with the team’s annual blue-white scrimmage on Saturday. Both events were part of a university-wide homecoming weekend.
