NC State head coach Mark Gottfried has added a true point guard to the Wolfpack's 2013 recruiting class in Anthony Barber, who is No. 11 overall in the ESPN 100.
Barber will provide the Pack with a lead guard who has blinding speed and quickness. The Pack's fast break has instantly improved and will be tough to handle from the first time Barber receives an outlet pass in an NC State uniform. Barber will push the pace on the break and force the post and wing to run the floor, which will make the NC State fast break lethal with the likes of Rodney Purvis and TJ Warren on the wings, both of whom can score buckets in their sleep. Also, great point guard depth is secured with Tyler Lewis, who is not just a great passer but an elite passer.
Barber will also be tough to keep out of the heart of the defense with his explosive burst of speed on his first step. Barber will be a terrific penetrator and distributor, and as his jump shot improves so will his ability to knock down shots when defenses backs away, which they will do because of his ability to cause problems when he gets into the lane.
