Clyde Smith an under-the-radar get for TCU

It was one year ago this fall that TCU accepted a bid to become a full member of the Big East.

While the decision was based almost entirely around football, it left men’s basketball coach Jim Christian and his staff climbing an uphill battle on the recruiting front as they were given less than two years to prepare for entry into the most competitive college basketball conference in the country.

While the state of Texas is undoubtedly one of the most talent-rich recruiting grounds in the entire country, it’s the heart of Big 12 country where the allure of the Big East isn’t nearly as enticing to potential recruits as it is on the East Coast.
