Sunday marked the beginning of the contact period and in New England. That meant a rush of college coaches attending prep school open-gym workouts.
Although some of the perennial powers such as Brewster Academy, New Hampton, South Kent, St. Thomas More, and others hadn’t started their open workouts on the first day of the period, a variety of other schools, including Northfield Mount Hermon, Worcester Academy, Milton Academy, Kimball Union Academy, Wilbraham and Monson Academy and Vermont Academy hosted several visitors.
Wilbraham & Monson held an early morning workout that featured its abundance of young stars such as Goodluck Okonoboh (Boston), Djery Baptiste (Haiti), and Luis Monteiro (Dominican Republic). Coaches from Connecticut, Boston College, Purdue and Pittsburgh were in attendance.
