- Fran Fraschilla, College Basketball
Basketball is a game that obviously relies on both talent and chemistry among the five players on the court. But within that five-man unit, sometimes it's a special link between just two players that can significantly affect that team’s performance. It’s not unlike a having a great quarterback-receiver combo in football or a great pitcher-catcher duo in baseball.
These tandems I’ve chosen are not necessarily the two best players on their teams. It’s a list based on how much the symbiotic relationship directly affects the success of their teams.
Looking for a reason why the Buckeyes rank No. 1 in the nation in defensive efficiency? It’s because backcourt mates Aaron Craft and Shannon Scott are terrorizing opponents with their relentless ball pressure, making it extremely difficult for opponents to get into their offense (Ohio State's opponents have the third-lowest assist rate in the country).
