You must design a system that gives your team the best opportunity to win. To do this you need committed and talented players, but chemistry and trust is also a necessity.
Which college basketball coaches have done the best job this season of getting the most out of their rosters? Here’s a list of the 10 who have their respective teams playing up to their potential thus far.
Jay Wright, Villanova Wildcats
This season’s Wildcats are all about the sum of their parts. They are undersized upfront but have good overall size. Villanova is physical defensively and can create turnovers off its 1-2-2, three-quarters court trap or scramble in the half court. One area that’s impressed me is Villanova's balance: It is getting contributions from different players each night and several players have made big shots. In fact, five players are averaging at least nine points per game. A testament to their unselfish mindset is that they assist on 17 of their 22 field goals a game.
