Raptors pursuit of Jackson ramps up
By Nick Borges
There have reports that the Toronto Raptors want to hire Phil Jackson now that Tim Leiweke is the head MLSE (Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment). Marc Stein and Ramona Shelburne report Jackson will be the president of basketball operations should he accept the job with the Raptors.
Jackson likely would have had that position with the Sacramento Kings if they had relocated to Seattle, but now that is no longer an option.
From Stein and Shelburne: "One source said that Leiweke's 'vision and energy' and history of shared success at Staples Center with the 11-time championship coach ensures that Jackson will give the pitch strong consideration despite skepticism around the league about his willingness to relocate to Canada."
Whether Jackson takes the job or not, the future's of president and general manager Bryan Colangelo and head coach Dwane Casey are very much in doubt with Leiweke now in charge.
