Wolves rumor: Flip mum, Kahn speaks
By Nick Borges
There was a report on Friday that Flip Saunders is set to replace David Kahn as the Minnesota Timberwolves' president of basketball operations. Saunders was evasive when asked about the rumor.
"What develops right now is yet to be determined," Saunders told ESPN.
Saunders was the head coach of the Wolves for over nine years and compiled a 411-326 record. He has maintained a relationship with owner Glen Taylor and there were whispers a few months ago that Kahn could be out and Saunders would be the replacement.
Upon hearing the news Kahn sent out a response.
"Glen and I have an understanding that we will meet at the appropriate time to discuss my contractual status, but only after we have clarification on coach Adelman's status and Glen has all the information he needs," Kahn said. "It is no different than when we make decisions on players who have options. We wait for the process to unfold. In the meantime, Glen and I have been having conversations about the draft, free agency and other plans."
The Wolves could also have a new head coach as Rick Adelman might step down. Adelman should announce his decision soon.
