Pachulia's time with Hawks over?
By Nick Borges
Zaza Pachulia's season is officially over after he decided he needs surgery to repair the partial tear of the right Achilles tendon. It had been sore for over two months and it could not heal, so the tendon will be fixed on April 3. Pachilia should be ready for the start of training camp, as he'll need six months to recover, however it may not be with the Hawks since he is a free agent beginning in July.
Pachilia, whose been with the Hawks for eight years, should draw plenty of interest form teams looking for a center who can start or come off the bench. Pachilia, for his part, has not thought about free agency.
“Until June 30 I’m still part of this team,” Pachulia told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The Hawks will be keen to re-sign Pachulia and they'll have a good chance to keep him, unless another team makes him a huge offer he can't pass up.
Pachulia played in 52 games this season, including 15 starts, and averaged 5.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 assist.
