Insult motivated Evans
By Nick Borges
Reggie Evans couldn't put the ball in the basket from the middle of February until the start of March and one of his teammates told head coach P.J. Carlesimo that Evans should be benched. The forward was not happy and used those comments to motivate him since that point.
"In the past when people play off me, I was still looking to be less aggressive on the offensive end. I still was looking to pass it and stuff like that. And (after a teammate told Carlesimo to bench me), I said, 'Let me just be a little aggressive and make them play us honestly instead of not playing me and stuff like that,' " Evans told the New York Daily News.
In the last 11 games Evans is averaging 8.6 points (shooting 53.1 percent from the floor) and 16.4 rebounds. Wednesday in Portland Evans scored 22 points and grabbed a career-high 26 rebounds. It is the seventh time this season that he's had at least 20 rebounds in a game.
