Update on Drummond's back
By Tom Carpenter
Andre Drummond was set to take part in All-Star activities this weekend, but his back injury is going to keep him out of the mix. In fact, he noted to reporters Friday just how serious the Pistons are about the rookie taking it easy.
"Drummond says under strict orders not to touch a basketball. Says Arnie Kander called for security after he took 1 shot during shoot-around," tweeted Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press.
All kidding aside, Drummond said that his back feels great and that he feels like he could play.
Drummond was expected to miss four to six weeks of action due the fracture in his back. Four weeks from that announcement would be about the beginning of March. There is little sense in holding onto him in fantasy leagues, unless you have a deep bench or an IR spot. However, you'll want to pick him up in a week or two if things continue to sound promising for his recovery. He carries plenty of upside over the final month or so of the season, if he can prove healthy and crack the starting lineup.
