Will James get another 10 days?
By Nick Borges
Mike James' 10-day contract is set to expire on Thursday and Donnie Nelson, the Dallas Mavericks president of basketball operations, hasn't decided if the guard will get another deal.
"It's too premature, probably, to look at that," Nelson told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "But he definitely helped us in some of those fourth-quarter minutes in Sacramento [on Thursday]. "So, while it's a big week for us, it's a big week for Mike. And so far so good."
The Mavs play the Rockets on Friday and James will either be offered a second 10-day contract or dropped so the team can sign another free agent.
"I'm hoping Mike really plays well and gives us every reason to keep him for the rest of the season," said Mavs owner Mark Cuban.
