Granger's preferred role
By Nick Borges
Danny Granger has regained his starting position after missing all but five games last season due to a knee issue and that is his preferred role.
“I’ve always started, so obviously I’m more comfortable doing that,” Granger told NBA.com Friday night. “And Lance Stephenson, he’s more of a playmaker. So when he’s in the second group, I think he actually excels more. He has the ball in his hands, he can make plays. When he’s with the starting group, the ball’s going into the post or Paul George has it. I play off the ball a lot.”
Whether Granger or Stephenson starts, the other player will still get plenty of minutes. Stephenson's ability to play several positions makes him an ideal sixth-man to lead the second unit. When it comes to finishing games, head coach Frank Vogel will simply go with who is playing better and Stephenson should get plenty of opportunities in the final six minutes of fourth quarters.
