Slim chance Balkman makes Mavs roster
By Nick Borges
The Dallas Mavericks added one more player to their training camp roster on Wednesday when they agreed to terms with forward Renaldo Balkman, the No. 20 pick in the 2006 NBA draft by the New York Knicks. According to ESPNDallas.com, the veteran minimum contract has no salary protection.
Dallas is now at the 20-player limit heading into training camp as they have also signed forward Devin Ebanks, center Fab Melo, forward D.J. Kennedy and guard Richard McConnell to make-good contracts, just like Balkman. All five players likely won't make Dallas' regular season roster as they already have 15 with fully guaranteed salaries for 2013-14.
Balkman last played in the NBA during the 2011-12 season with the Knicks. Since then he has played in Puerto Rico, Philippines, Venezuela.
