Clippers eyeing Arenas?
By Joe Kaiser
A report today by Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld.com indicates that the Los Angeles Clippers may invite Gilbert Arenas to training camp. If it happens, and the 31-year-old ends up making the roster, it'll set the stage for quite a crowded backcourt.
We're talking about a Clips' roster that already has not only Chris Paul and J.J. Redick, but also Darren Collison, Jamal Crawford and rookie sharpshooter Reggie Bullock, who looked impressive throughout Summer League.
Would there even be room for Arenas in L.A.? And if he forces the Clippers' hands with a great training camp and makes the opening night roster, is Agent Zero really the player this team needs to get over the hump in the ultra competitive Western Conference? Those are some of the questions that will undoubtedly arise in the weeks ahead, but I for one have my doubts. Arenas sat out all of last season, which only would make this more of a head-scratcher.
Arenas' presence on the roster would stand to affect Collison and Bullock the most, as each could lose their minutes to the controversial veteran scorer.
