Warriors, Douglas a good fit
By Nick Borges
The Golden State Warriors officially signed guard Toney Douglas to a one-year, $1.6 million contract on Thursday. Douglas says he chose the Warriors because they are a good fit for his game.
“It’s an uptempo team. They have a great coach in Mark Jackson. They added Andre Iguodala, Marreese Speights and Jermaine O’Neal. The whole starting five is back," Douglas told The Oakland Tribune. "For the team this year, the sky’s the limit. Go far in the playoffs, that’s the goal. … Now it’s about (making) the Western Conference Finals and getting an NBA championship.”
The Warriors had a terrific 2012-13 season and backup point guard Jarrett Jack played a pivotal role. Douglas may not score like Jacks, however he can knock down deep shots and he is a top-notch defender.
