B-Diddy returning to the league?
By Joe Kaiser
At 34 years old, Baron Davis isn't ready to call it quits just yet.
Alan Hahn, a studio analyst at MSG Network and longtime beat reporter for Newsday, spoke to the personable point guard recently at summer league in Las Vegas, and uncovered some information about Davis' plans for the future.
According to Hahn, Davis says he has continued the rehabilitation process on the gruesome knee injury he suffered in the 2012 playoffs while playing for the Knicks and, after taking last season off, he plans to return to the NBA this season.
"My whole thing is to get in the best shape of my life and by September or October be ready to showcase my talent and try out for whoever I need to try out for," he said. "I think the most important thing is being in shape."
That last line right there about sums up Davis' entire career. When in shape and at his peak with Golden State in 2007, the then 28-year-old was one of the game's most electrifying and dynamic point guards (close your eyes if you're reading this, Andrei Kirilenko). At his age, he'll never get anywhere close to that level again, but he'll have to be very fit to have any chance at extending his NBA career.
