Bobcats make play for Jefferson
By Nick Borges
The Charlotte Bobcats need scoring in the post and The Charlotte Observer has confirmed the team contacted free agent Al Jefferson soon after the calendar turned to July 1.
The Bobcats can have about $14.6 million under the salary cap, easily enough to sign Jefferson, if they were to remove Tyrus Thomas from the books via the amnesty provision.
Interest in Jefferson should really pick up once the top centers and power forwards come off the board. Teams like Dallas, Phoenix, Portland, and Philadelphia could have him high on their lists. The Utah Jazz also have interest in re-signing the big man.
