Who's got next in Phoenix?

It likely wasn't a coincidence that the Phoenix Suns fired coach Alvin Gentry on Friday, the first day of a five-day break from game action. The mini-vacation is allowing the Suns to take their time and make a solid choice on who will be their interim coach for the remainder of the season. According to Paul Coro of AZCentral.com, "Suns assistant coaches Elston Turner, Igor Kokoskov and Dan Majerle and player development coordinator Lindsey Hunter are believed to be the candidates for the job ..."

"Suns players still reported to the arena [Saturday] to work out with some expressing a desire for Majerle to take the helm," he added. "As one of the most popular people in Suns history, Majerle would be a public hit. He has served as an assistant coach since 2008 and was a Philadelphia head coach candidate when Doug Collins was selected. Majerle, a Suns Ring of Honor member, has been the head coach of four NBA Summer League teams for the Suns."
