Detroit, more than most other teams around the league, subscribes to the theory that players needn't be locked in to one traditional position. The Pistons proved that when they went out and signed Josh Smith, a power forward in his later days in Atlanta, to come in and play small forward on a roster that already includes Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe.
