Can Oladipo live up to rookie expectations?

August, 15, 2013
As far as living up to expectations is concerned, no rookie from the 2013 draft class may have it tougher than Orlando's multi-talented guard Victor Oladipo. Seemingly everywhere you look, the two-way force drafted No. 2 overall in June is being picked as the favorite to win the 2013-14 Rookie of the Year Award.

ESPN's Chad Ford ranked him atop his list, for example, ahead of No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett in Cleveland and C.J. McCollum in Portland. Perhaps even more telling is the view the ESPN Forecast panel had on the ROY; Oladipo came out with more than twice as many votes (284) as second-place finisher Trey Burke (105). Each first place vote counted as five points, with three points going to a second-place vote and one point going for a third-place vote. In short, the Magic rookie lapped the field. Not only is he the popular pick to win the award by a panel of savvy basketball minds, he's the pick by a landslide.

Will these type of expectations be too high for a player who wasn't even a college star until his junior season?
