Freeland's new approach

Joel Freeland found playing time hard to come by as a 26-year-old rookie in the NBA last season, averaging just under 10 minutes a game for Portland. Year two will present an even greater challenge in that regard, given the way the Trail Blazers have bolstered their second unit and are set to feature Robin Lopez and Meyers Leonard as their two top centers next season.

What Freeland hopes is that a new mindset will help him improve on the court and find a way to carve out a role on what could be a playoff-bound Blazers team in 2013-14.
