Why Bobcats needed to sign Jefferson

UPDATE: After spending two days with the Bobcats, Al Jefferson and the team agreed to terms on Thursday. The deal is worth $40.5 million ($13.5 each season) over three years. The third season is a player option. It was thought he'd wait for Dwight Howard to make his decision, but obviously the dollar amount was too good and he felt it was the right move to play for Charlotte.
