Delonte West signed with the Texas Legends of the D-League on Friday. West made himself available to the D-League, and the Legends had the top waiver priority. It's an interesting pairing, though, because the Dallas Mavericks unceremoniously cut West just prior to the season and the Legends are the Mavs' D-League affiliate.
West hopes to work his way back into NBA action, but will he do so as a member of the Mavs? ESPNDallas.com's Tim MacMahon has his doubts:
"West, who has also played for the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Seattle Supersonics during his eight-year career, hopes to earn another shot in the NBA via the D-League. However, that isn’t likely to happen with the Mavs, who dismissed West in large part due to concerns about the influence he could have on the team’s younger players. All indications are the Mavs intend to keep Mike James for the rest of the season after his second 10-day contract expires. The Mavs signed the 37-year-old point guard after his two-game stint with the Frisco-based Legends."
