This much we know: there is virtually zero chance that Marcus Smart will be drafted as high in 2014 as he would have last year, when he was expected to be Orlando's choice with the No. 2 overall pick. Instead, he elected to return to Oklahoma State for his sophomore year and enter a more talented 2014 draft class, where he's slated to be a mid-to-late lottery pick. But that's a narrative that's been ran into the ground.
Looking ahead to next month's NBA draft, the more current question regarding Smart is just how far he will slide. Dante Exum is expected to be the first point guard off the board, so ultimately it could come down to whether lottery teams view Smart or someone else like Syracuse's Tyler Ennis as the next-best at the position.
