LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh can opt out of their contracts and join the 2014 class of free agents. James will become a free agent, while Bosh and Wade may decline the option. Either way, Arison expects to keep his best players.
“I hope it’s not going to be a challenge at all," Arison said. "We’ll see ... Our focus is winning a championship. Hopefully, after that it will be a nice parade and a good summer."
The Heat have been taxpayers and that will continue while Arison has the "Big Three" under contract though the 2015-16 season. The NBA estimates big increases to the luxury tax threshold over the next few seasons, so this will help keep the bill a little bit lower, although it will still be high as the Heat are going to be "repeat" taxpayers.
James took a big pay cut to leave Cleveland for Miami, however this time around he's likely going to seek a max contract, which he deserves.
