Jabari Parker has been regarded as a probable top 3 pick if he declares for the 2014 NBA draft, basically since before the college basketball season even started. But is there a scenario where the skilled Duke freshman might fall out of that range?
Apparently, there is.
ESPN Insider and NBA draft expert Chad Ford lists Parker at No. 4 today on his Mock Draft 3.0, going after Kansas center Joel Embiid, Kansas swingman Andrew Wiggins and Australian combo guard Dante Exum.
Now, a large part of this will ultimately come down to which teams have the top 3 picks in the draft. If the season ended today and the draft lottery went according to the odds, Milwaukee would have the top pick followed by Philadelphia and Orlando.
All three teams could conceivably be in play for a jumbo wing who can flat out shoot and score like Parker, but even in this scenario, Ford has Parker dropping to Boston at No. 4. Here's Ford with more.
"GM Danny Ainge isn't as in love with this draft as much as the rest of the league, but he'll still be stoked to land Parker here. Parker's abilities as a scorer and rebounder could make him an immediate upgrade at the 3 while giving the Celtics more incentive to move Jeff Green this summer."
