Will Vazquez pitch?

By Jason A. Churchill

Veteran right-hander Javier Vazquez will have meniscus surgery on his right knee Wednesday, reports ESPN Insider's Jim Bowden, a procedure that is considered minor and will not prevent Vazquez from starting the season at 100 percent -- if he decides to return.

Bowden adds that seven teams have interest in Vazquez, who has been pitching in Puerto Rico. Among the clubs that have been rumored include the Tampa Bay Rays, Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals, Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox. Nationals' GM Mike Rizzo traveled to see Vazquez earlier this month.

The 36-year-old has touched 95 mph with his fastball, his manager, Alex Cora, tweeted a few weeks back.
