Time off for Puig?
By Doug Mittler
Los Angeles Dodgers rookie Yasiel Puig left Monday’s game in Colorado after irritating a slight knee strain and is not expected to start Tuesday night against the Rockies.
There is no reason to believe this injury is anything to worry about, but Mark Saxon of ESPNLosAngeles.com makes a good point about Puig’s workload. Puig said he typically played around 96 games per season in his native Cuba, but already is at the 120-mark between Double-A and the major leagues.
With the Dodgers holding a 12 1/2-game lead in the National League West, manager Don Mattingly could be tempted to give Puig a day or two down the stretch in favor of Skip Schumaker.
