We're well more than a month removed from Independence Day, but nevertheless New York Yankees fans have been treated to a fireworks show thanks to the unexpected renaissance of Alfonso Soriano over the past two games.
Soriano, who has four home runs and 13 RBI in his last seven at-bats, now has a chance to become just the fifth player since 2000 to have three consecutive games with four or more RBIs in each contest. The four other players in this exclusive quartet are:
- Chris Davis, April 3-5, 2013: 3 HR, 13 RBI
- Cody Ross, July 4-6, 2008: 2 HR, 14 RBI
- Travis Hafner, May 1-3, 2006: 3 HR, 12 RBI
- Albert Belle, June 14-16, 2000: 5 HR, 14 RBI
He'll be taking his best shot to join this group against C.J.Wilson of the Los Angeles Angels at Yankee Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
Matt EhaltSoriano's encore a hit in the Bronx
"One night after setting a career-high in RBIs, Soriano outdid himself by driving in a career-best seven runs and clubbing two more homers in the New York Yankees' 11-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium. Soriano has four homers and 13 RBIs in his last seven at-bats."
