Any big plans for the Dodgers?
By Jason Catania
Last year, the Los Angeles Dodgers were perhaps the most active club during the trade deadline period -- even extending into August's waiver trading -- so what might they have planned for an encore?
You'll recall, of course, that during July and August alone last season, the Dodgers acquired (deep breath) Hanley Ramirez, Shane Victorino, Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and Brandon League to help with a playoff push that ultimately didn't happen.
But those trades were as much about 2013 and beyond as they were about 2012, writes Vincent Bonsignore of the Los Angeles Daily News. Which is why the Dodgers may not be planning any more major wheelings-and-dealings.
Another reason? L.A. has gone 25-6 and currently sits atop the NL West, putting the team in position to be more deliberate and selective when it comes to any maneuvering. Their big move(s) for this year have already happened -- they just happened last year.
