The key trade chip for the Mets
By Joe Kaiser
The New York Mets have a few intriguing bullpen arms that could be moved by the deadline.
The Mets have a number of arms that could help a contender in the final months of the season, including LaTroy Hawkins, Scott Atchison, David Aardsma and perhaps even closer Bobby Parnell. The big question is whether the Mets can get enough value back in return to pull the trigger on a deal.
The price would undoubtedly be highest for the 28-year-old Parnell, who is under club control for a couple more seasons and has performed very well in the closer's role this year. The Mets would probably have to be blown away to include him in a deal, but they would be wise to trade him if they got a quality package of prospects in return, as Jared Cross of ESPN Insider writes.
As for the other three, a mid-level prospect could be enough to land any of them.
