Now that the Arizona Diamondbacks have finally traded right fielder Justin Upton, Jason Kubel may be safe to order those business cards with his desert address, and the club can move forward with their plans for the other outfielders.
Cody Ross is likely to play right field with Adam Eaton getting a shot to be the full-time centerfielder. Kubel and defensive wizard Gerardo Parra are likely to share left field, with Kubel being able to play DH during the expanded interleague schedule that debuts this season.
In the Upton deal, Arizona acquired veteran Martin Prado, who is likely to play third base, but can play left field if needed. Eaton, who made his big-league debut in 2012, could end up leading off for the Snakes.
Parra is capable of, and is likely to, serve as a backup in center and right in addition to his time in left field. Thursday, Steve Gilbert reported that skipper Kirk Gibson plans to spread the playing time, saying each of the four are slated for 400-500 at bats in 2013.
