Gibson ready now?
By Jason Catania
Minnesota Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson is still working his way to the big leagues.
The club considered calling up the 25-year-old last month, as Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com wrote. The club decided Gibson wasn't ready yet, but that was three weeks ago. What's the former first-round pick done since?
In the first three starts, Gibson went six, seven and six innings, allowing six runs total, but issuing eight walks and yielding 17 hits. He's showing a weakness versus left-handed batters, with 22 of his 28 walks on the season coming against them. He was nails Thursday, however, tossing seven strong frames and allowing an unearned run on five hits and one walk. He struck out six and lowered his ERA to 3.01 on the season in 15 starts.
