Filling in for Pettitte
By Jason Catania
One shy of his 250th career win, Andy Pettitte will have to wait to reach that milestone.
The New York Yankees lefty was placed on the disabled list Friday, per ESPNNewYork.com, with a strained left trapezius muscle, which is located in the upper back and shoulder area.
Rookie Vidal Nuno, who made a successful spot start last Monday in throwing five scoreless frames against the Cleveland Indians, was recalled from Triple-A and will take Pettitte's spot in the five-man.
While Pettitte and the Yanks indicated he could be back after sitting out the mandatory 15 days, this injury comes at a tough time for the Yanks' rotation, which is still without starter Ivan Nova and had to endure Phil Hughes' brutal outing Wednesday in which he didn't even make it out of the first inning.
Pettitte's next scheduled start was to be Tuesday against the Baltimore Orioles, so Nuno will get that turn instead.
