Another chance for Hendrickson?
By Doug Mittler
The Orioles plan to offer a minor league contract to veteran left-hander Mark Hendrickson, and he will bring a new look to spring training, reports Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun.
The 6-foot-9 Hendrickson began to reinvent himself as a sidearm pitcher in December and threw for the team at least week’s three-day mini-camp. Given Hendrickson’s size, there appears to be plenty of upside if the southpaw is able to refine that sidearm delivery.
Hendrickson last pitched in the majors in 2011 and has a 5.03 ERA over parts of 10 seasons. A starter for most of his career, Hendrickson will likely be tried as a reliever this spring.
