What is Beltran's future in St. Louis?
By AJ Mass
Brian Stull from 101 ESPN Radio in St. Louis tweets that outfielder Carlos Beltran wants to stay with the Cardinals beyond 2013 and hopes to have talks with the team about making that goal a reality.
Beltran will be a free agent in 2014, and by that time, top prospect Oscar Tavares, 16 years his junior, may well be ready to join the team's big league outfield.
Last year, Beltran hit 32 home runs, more than in any season since 2007, but at a price tag in the $13 million neighborhood, it's more likely that the veteran will be shopping his services elsewhere come October - or perhaps even be part of a late-season deal in 2013, should the season not go as well as St. Louis would like - unless he's willing to lower the asking price significantly.
