MLB's best young pitcher
By Jason A. Churchill
The buzz in baseball this season has been very much centered around New York Mets right-hander Matt Harvey, and deservedly so. He's been sensational, commanding a mid-to-upper 90s fastball and power breaking stuff to four straight wins to start the season. After last week's matchup between Harvey and Stephen Strasburg, the question has been asked about which of the two is the better pitcher going forward. Let's expand that.
Including Harvey and Strasburg, who is the best pitcher, 25 and under in Major League Baseball right now? Here are some candidates, and if I miss any you feel need to be included, feel free to add and defend your choice:
Clayton Kershaw, LHP -- Los Angeles Dodgers
Matt Moore, LHP -- Tampa Bay Rays
Chris Sale, LHP -- Chicago White Sox
Mat Latos, RHP -- Cincinnati Reds
Madison Bumgarner, LHP -- San Francisco Giants
Shelby Miller, RHP -- St. Louis Cardinals
Jose Fernandez, RHP -- Miami Marlins
Aroldis Champman, LHP -- Cincinnati Reds
Craig Kimbrel, RHP -- Atlanta Braves
Others that may join the fray in 2013 include Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Gerrit Cole, Allen Webster of the Boston Red Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks southpaw Tyler Skaggs, Harvey's Mets teammate Zack Wheeler, and Baltimore Orioles right-hander Dylan Bundy if his elbow troubles subside.
