Why Zambrano is unemployed
By Doug Mittler
Carlos Zambrano did little to enhance his resume in the World Baseball Classic, allowing two runs in 3 2/3 innings for Team Venezuela. Add in the numerous bridges he has burned, and it is no surprise that the free agent righthander is still looking for work.
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe says Zambrano’s reputation as a “bad guy” in the clubhouse is not helping his cause. “Not saying the guy hasn’t been good in his career because he has, but when things go bad, he has a rap sheet that shows how he reacts, and that’s hard to overcome,” an NL GM tells Cafardo.
Zambrano is just 31, but has a 4.66 ERA over his last two seasons with the Cubs and Marlins.
