Yankees first base options dwindle
By Jason A. Churchill
With Mark Teixeira expected to be out 8-10 weeks, the New York Yankees do not necessarily need to add a corner infielder to their roster to replace the switch hitter, abut one of the potential external options may not be one after all.
Aubrey Huff, 36, says he's "pretty much retired," and went as far as to say he doesn't even have the itch to play. He struggled in 2011 and 2012, both at the plate and with injuries, so it's not as if Huff was an ideal candidate in the first place.
The Yankees could stay in house and keep one of their non-roster invitees such as Juan Rivera or Dan Johnson.
Rumor Central's Doug Mittler discussed the topic earlier this week right here, and I added to the discussion Thursday.
