Interest in Wang

By Doug Mittler

The World Baseball Classic was audition time for free agent Chien-Ming Wang, who pitched 12 scoreless innings with a 0.92 WHIP for Taiwan.

Agent Alan Chang says they are talking to a number of teams, including the Yankees, but no timetable has been set, tweets Ken Davidoff of the New York Post. Andy McCullough of the Star Ledger tweets that Wang is throwing for Yankee scouts Wednesday.

Wang had back-to-back 19-win seasons for the New York Yankees in 2006 and 2007 and has not been the same pitcher since due to a series of shoulder injuries. He had a 6.68 ERA in 10 appearances for the Nationals last season, but is still just 32 and could be a contributor to an MLB team by May if healthy.
