Third base duty for Liddi
By Doug Mittler
If Alex Liddi is to earn an Opening Day roster spot with the Seattle Mariners, it will likely be as a backup third baseman.
Manager Eric Wedge confirmed Sunday that Liddi will get the bulk of his playing time this spring back at third base after being used as a first baseman and left fielder last season.
Liddi spent most of last year in Triple-A Tacoma after hitting .224 with 49 strikeouts in 116 at-bats with Seattle. A roster spot is no guarantee for the 24-year-old since the Mariners signed free agent Robert Andino over the winter.
