DeJesus as trade bait

By Doug Mittler

The Chicago Cubs have let it be known for years that Alfonso Soriano is available, but the $36 million remaining on his contract over the next two seasons remains an obstacle.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe says another Cubs outfielder, David DeJesus, could draw serious interest, particularly as a midseason addition. The 33-year-old DeJesus has a $4.25 million salary for this season plus a club option for 2014.

The Phillies, Orioles and Red Sox were mentioned as possible fits for DeJesus, who has hit.240 and .263 over the last two seasons.
