Filling in for Young
By Jason Catania
Expected to be the Philadelphia Phillies starting right fielder after signing in January, Delmon Young may not get that chance for a few months.
Young, who had ankle surgery last November, shortly after he and his then-Detroit Tigers teammates lost the World Series to the San Francisco Giants, wasn't expected to be ready for Opening Day. But one club official told Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com that Young may actually miss most of April.
Newcomer Ben Revere is set in centerfield, but to help cover the corner outfield spots while Young is out, the Phils will turn to veterans John Mayberry Jr. and Laynce Nix, as well as former top prospect Domonic Brown and perhaps rookie Darin Ruf, who led the minor leagues with 38 homers in 2012.
