Additional possibilities for Norris
By Jason A. Churchill
As Rumor Central's Doug Mittler discussed Wednesday, the Houston Astros could entertain trade offers for right-hander Bud Norris, who is set to be the highest paid player on the club's roster for 2013 and already drawing interest. Norris, 27, could be a fit for any number of organizations.
In Ken Rosenthal's report, the St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles and San Diego Padres were named as potential suitors, but the list could grow to double digits as his $3 million salary is far from prohibitive, even for the Astros, and he will not hit free agency for three more years.
Considering such attributes of value, interest from the Seattle Mariners, Colorado Rockies, Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins would be far from a surprise. The Astros, of course, will want young talent in return, but all four clubs have such assets to spare, though the Rockies and Indians lack depth and impact prospects, writes ESPN Insider's Keith Law.
