The July 31 trade deadline has come and gone, and Giancarlo Stanton is still on the Miami Marlins. So is Greg Dobbs, Justin Ruggiano, Juan Pierre and Placido Polanco, all veterans who could certainly have brought back some kind of value to the team in a deal, even if only for opening up a spot in the lineup for a younger player to get some experience for the future. And yet, the Marlins were a deadline non-factor. What gives?
