Daisuke Matsuzaka is reportedly down to three teams and is likely to settle for a minor league deal with a big-league spring training invite attached. The right-hander struggled after his return from Tommy John surgery and is looking for the best place to reestablish his value.
The three clubs, according to Gen Sueyoshi of Sports Hochi in Japan, are the New York Mets, Miami Marlins and Cleveland Indians, each of which have rotation spots open for competition.
There has been some chatter about Matsuzaka returning to Japan, but it appears he prefers to give Major League Baseball another go. He's just 32, suggesting if he's healthy and has put in the work to return to form, Dice-K could be a terrific bargain.
