I was 14 when Carlos Delgado broke into the majors as a power-hitting catcher in Toronto, and I still remember the opening month of the 1994 season like it was yesterday because it seemed like Delgado left the yard just about every night.

On Friday, White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu eclipsed Delgado's rookie record with his ninth home run before May, and did so in grand fashion; the 27-year-old Cuban belted two more homers, including a walk-off grand slam off of Tampa Bay closer Grant Balfour in the bottom of the ninth to reach the mark.
