MLB Rumor Central: Teams asking about Daniel Hudson, Brad Ziegler package deal

There might be a new approach in the market for acquiring potential free-agent relievers Daniel Hudson and Brad Ziegler.

Rumor CentralKen Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported that, according to Arizona Diamondbacks GM Dave Stewart, Hudson and Ziegler are drawing interest separately, but teams are also inquiring about picking up both pitchers in a package deal.

But with the August 1, non-waiver trade deadline still just over a month away, the Diamondbacks aren't making any sudden moves regarding the two pitchers.

"First we're going to test the waters with Ziegler and Hudson as far as them staying. If there's nothing we can do (regarding extensions), we'll see how we're going to play and make a decision once that is revealed," Stewart said.

Sources also shared with Rosenthal that the Diamondbacks have yet to discuss extensions with either reliever.

As ESPN's MLB Rumor Central shared earlier in June, the Diamondbacks do not intend to be sellers at the deadline, according to their chief baseball officer Tony La Russa. Hudson also expressed his desire to stay with the team: "I'd love to stay here and be here when we're good. I don't want to come here and face our lineup when they put it all together and I'm not here. I want to be a part of it."
