It was another big weekend of amateur baseball, and we saw a prep right-hander position himself to possibly be the top player in the class, two outstanding pitching matchups live up to the hype, and an inauspicious weekend for one of the more famous hitters in this year's draft.

Kolek putting himself into position to challenge for top pick

A prep right-hander has never been selected with the No. 1 pick in the current version of the MLB Draft, as teams have generally shied away from the volatility of high-school pitchers early on. And while it's still too early to say who the Houston Astros will and won't consider with that first pick, it's hard to imagine that Shepherd (Texas) HS right-hander Tyler Kolek won't be considered if he continues to pitch like he did on Friday.

Kolek continued his domination on Friday, pitching a no-hitter and coming within one hitter of a perfect game before a walk with two outs in the sixth ended his run.
